LEAVES IN THE STREAM

John Nancarro

I was fortunate to spend my formative years in the company of some remarkable, eccentric people. I not infrequently delude myself that some of this remarkable eccentricity has rubbed off on me. Sadly, in comparison with these giants I am little more than dust beneath their chariot wheels. They feature at some length in the reviews/recitals which, In the company of the almost irritatingly talented David Hammond, I have been performing for the past few years.

The latest of these, “No Turn Unstoned”, was scheduled to be in performance at the Brittania Music Hall last year. Didn’t happen of course. My enforced inactivity has led me to produce these little vignettes which delve deeper, and explain, I hope, my huge affection for them.

I have chosen to tell the tale in three entirely separate episodes and I feel obliged to state that the first of these, the Tale of Aunt Emily, is somewhat “salty” even by today’s liberal standards. Just highlight the link, right click on the link, then go to the story!
